President

Denise Nordell

A longtime library supporter, Denise retired from a career in advertising, marketing and public relations to begin her Chapter Two with a focus on serving the community she grew up in. Denise volunteers for several local nonprofit organizations but her main focus is literacy; she tutors both children and adults using the Barton Reading and Spelling system. Denise is an avid knitter and recently earned her Master Knitter certificate. Her ultimate joy is spending time with her granddaughters, who are avid readers, of course!

Vice President

Beverly Schlegel

Beverly has been a library card holder since she was 4 years old. When she retired from her position as a middle school resource specialist in 2013, she began volunteering at the Friends-run Little Shop. In 2017, she made phone calls during the Measure S campaign. She joined the Friends board in 2018 and stepped in as vice president in July 2021. Beverly is also a member/volunteer with the Turlock/Modesto branch of the American Association of University Women, MICL, Haute Couture Socit, and Modesto Garden Club.
